Donut.That's how I want to start this blog: with the word "donut". Not because its my favorite food (although I do daydream about donuts from time to time) but because, well, I identify with it. Its symbolic. It is, after all, just a little pastry trying to win the respect and admiration of its peers: the croissant and the danish.

I am always interested in "local" home made recipes. Whenever I get a chance, I always ask local residents for some of thier favorite family recipes. Recently I met a woman and her husband, and while talking about different foods for different areas of the country, she gave me hers:
Cook Elbow Macaroni, drain, pour tomato juice over top, enough to cover, warm and serve.
Weeks later, I am still speechless, do people really eat this?
